Ever since her Norwegian exhibition at the “Peer Gynt Festival” in 2004, Anne Kristine Thorsby ’s exciting artistic development can be traced in her oil paintings. She has held solo annual exhibitions in well-known galleries all across Norway, and a solo exhibition at the Trygve Lie Gallery in New York in 2006.
In 2013, she will be returning to New York for another exhibition at the Broadway Gallery in Soho. The IX Florence Biennial has invited her to contribute, and she will be exhibiting three works at this major international exhibition of contemporary art in Italy in 2013.
Her paintings express the evolution of natural elements reflected in mental images. The motifs span across the explosive and the meditative - in constant motion toward an unfamiliar landscape. She communicates a deep personal expression with an inherent energy that engages the audience in a dialogue.
"I use natural elements such as the sea, mountain, weather and light in my paintings. I portray these elements in order to communicate something about humanity and its intrinsic potential. Humanity in motion, constantly evolving."
